Orion’s Choice Pork and Rice Formula is an alternative to lamb based diets for those dogs that cannot eat chicken. Studies show that pork is a superior protein source for dogs when compared to lamb which lacks the proper amino acid profile for canine nutrition. Many of us think of pork as bacon or smoked ham, however, the pork in Orion’s Choice is neither of these highly processed products, but is rather high quality white pork meat. As a protein source for dogs, pork is equal to chicken in nutritional quality.

Orion’s Choice Pork and Rice Formula has more protein and fat than our Chicken and Rice Formula, so you should be able to feed less to your dog. Additionally, we have added extra salmon to the ingredient list which is an important source of Omega-3’s and DHA, so it is also an excellent choice as a high quality puppy food.

Proper Dog Food Storage

Dog food should be stored in a cool, dry place. We strongly recommend that our product be stored in its original bag. Our bags are simple (you wouldn’t believe how much the fancy bags you see in the store cost!!) , but effective. Rather than having to charge you more for fancy bags, we spend the money on the quality of the food. To make certain that the food stays fresh you may wish to place the bag in a container such as a CLEAN trash pail as this will deter pests. We do not recommend dumping the dog food into the container. If this is done, the container will need to be scrubbed thoroughly after each batch. Otherwise, over time, fats from the dog food will accumulate on the sides and floor of the container and eventually turn rancid. This will then spoil the next batch of dog food. It is far easier to simply leave the food in the bag and then dispose of the bag once the contents are eaten.
